How much Uranium is left?

science_Uranium

Although I am not a huge fan of atomic power I think it is a midterm alternative for us.

Uranium like oil is a natural and limited resource. According to Wikipedia the supply should last about 85 years. That is not very long.

I hadn’t thought about that. People point to nuclear power as an alternative to fossil, but being a very heavy metal that has to be purified to be “useful”, of course it’s rare. It’s not really an alternative.

All these recent discussions about an atomic revival never mention this. What we really need are more renewable sources and an overall better energy mix. Variety instead of monoculture.

well, they are probably looking into nuclear breeder reactors which use nuclear chemical reactions to replenish the same element started with at the end of the reaction…so the resource ..the uranium would be replenished …getting rid of the 85 year limited resource issue
