Child Mortality is down - but what about overpopulation?

BBC News: Child mortality ‘at record low’

Ok, I am a bit cynical here. It is good that less kids die, but it’s about time we tackle overpopulation seriously. We literally eating away our planet and humanities growth is unsustainable.

It sounds kind of stupid: but what’s the point of saving babies if they face a miserable life? Clean water is already a scarce resource in many developing nations, while the west wastes food for energy production.

While Europe is shrinking and the US stable, the rest of the world is still growing …

you joke…
on this planet exist resources for more than 10 billion people…
without genetics-technology or other special actions…

…but there is no political volition for an equitably distribution,
oder nich?!!!

Nah, I don’t think so.

More farming needs more water and energy - and also more energy for distribution. Today we are near or have already passed peak oil, so production is already behind demand. There is a lot of unused land out there … but food production, espcially meat, will create even more Co2 and methane …

climatic-change ..thats a new field - a wide field…

Just food is not the problem - the whole infrastructure is.

Over population is the problem. You are right, saving the children doesn’t solve anything, it leads to a greater problem down the road.

@brad: Maybe if we all raise chickens and gophers in our backyard we might provide enough food and jobs for everyone? ;-)
