Since I am now an old fart I hereby claim my official rights to complain about the younger generation and it’s addiction to 160 worthless characters of communication.

eMail and the web made people write and read more, but rap music and texting / instant messaging seems to have reduced the younger generations ability to write, read and most of all comprehend complex texts and thereby concepts.

Language is more then words and sentences. Language is mostly about understanding - understanding concepts, phrases and realities. If you loose the ability to understand, decode and rephrase complex texts like laws, speeches and religions babble, then you are truly fucked, because the power hungry elites can outthink you.

Look at 1984, look at Göbbels and look at modern day American republicans - they are all masters of reality distortion via very smart concepts and wordplay.
