Fight that Winter Depression

modern_light_therapy

Every year around this time my fight with Winter Depression starts. Not enough light - and therefore not enough happiness. Since this is the 21st century this condition has a nice and serious sounding medical name attached to it - Seasonal Affective Disorder - which can be shortened into ‘SAD’. No shit Sherlock!

But this year I’ll fight back! Thanks to the intranets I bought one of many light therapy devices. If it doesn’t make me happy - at least my electricity provider will be (although most of these devices use no more power then a normal light bulb).

Wow! This wonderful orange-light! ..and if it is ´SAD` - it works!
I know some excellent physicians, which use successful with this lamps. And there exist a lot of grave studys!
…but today, during a long car-driving, i`m aware of a word from a ´Hear-CD` from Herman Melville (Moby Dick): All of nobels, have a little bit melancholie. (Alles Edele hat auch immer ein wenig Melancholie!) ..also, orange, don`t forget your own one aristocratic state of being - and don`t wast to much light! ;-)

@Mo: Yeah, I don’t mind the melchcholy - it’s rather the lack of motivation and simply brightness I want to get rid of. My medium is light … so to speak …

Orangeguru, I have found that a dawn simulator/body clock has done wonders for my wellbeing. http://www.lumie.com/shop/products/dawn-simulators

…but - i feel - you got the right contemplation!
In my book: ´Last words from famous people` i never forget the last some from J.W.G. ´More light …please more light!`
(I think, there were to much curtains before his deathbed)

@ aperfectstranger: Your Mister Schreiber on http://www.instincttoheal.org/ used a lot of from this light-lamps - if i look on his skin-color! ;-)

@aperfectstranger: Thanks for the links. This company has many great products. I am curious if my eBay catch will work well … maybe we know some more in a few week …

I am not so sure with that Dr. Schreiber: his statement that most sickness is prepetuated by stress is certainly true - more psychology in normal medicine is certainly needed. But SAD is simply a lack of light - not the right emotions.

;-)

@mo: Mr Schreiber only had an emotionally badly adjusted webdesigner doing his picture.
