70’s Beanbags and Bubble Chairs

design_vestigio

Somehow the design of the 70’s totally eludes me - it’s ugly, it’s unpractical and simply weird. Like these bubble chairs - space age meets Lego?!

Ah, but it was the decade of Orange!

But along with it came lime green and mission brown.
My house was of these colours when I first went there,
I should have kept it the same for conversation and history,
but it was too hard to ignore.
I needed sunglasses to get out of bed in the morning.

Also psychedelic purple wallpaper,
and textured plaster arches.
The indoor rock gardens were nice though.
Yet it was a timber cutters hut on the outside.

@Lisa: Sure it was the Age of Orange … so the colour was right - just not the design! ;-)

In the 80’s everything went black - until the techno and house scene emerged and painted everything in bright colours again.

Impractical, certainly, but this chair is a fabulous piece of design from Aarnio: eye catching and extremely comfortable.
It´s a sixties design, you should know and is called the Ball or Globe chair

@hebba: I guess I am simply too fat to fit inot one of these things. They need to make an XXL version to accomodate today’s obese people … ;-)
