Various artists - couldn’t find any credits, sorry!

The male shape is as ‘normal’ and beautiful as the female form. What annoys me is that often male act photography is only meant for the gay community (like many female acts border to normal porn). I am the last person lambasting porn anyway - but sometimes a great image of the human form is simply enough for me and amazing enough.

Can’t we celebrate our own shapes without going all juicy?

Many thanks for that one! I agree totally. I think it’s an issue for “Men’s Lib”, but one of the biggest obstacles guys have to tackle is homophobia. That’s the reason it’s not “acceptable”. Can you imagine showing a photo above to a straight male friend and saying “Isn’t that a great photo?”.
I think a great many straight men have such an appreciation, but know they cannot express it without being tagged as gay.

What a great topic to post!
I agree very much with you.

I also agreed with Neugen that it is a timely issue for Men’s Lib. and that homophobic fears lie behind the fear of admiration of the male form for males.
Although, this admiration must be allowed in the case of body building and contests like Mr. World. Surely the men involved are admiring themselves and others, and the judges of competitions would be male?
But this may be one of the few areas where it is considered OK to admire, because then we are admiring how strong and muscle packed someone is.
Perhaps not so OK to admire someone who is merely lithe.

A friend loaned me a book a few weeks ago, titled
‘Boyfriends, an erotic study of the male physique’
‘Beautiful representations of the masculine from the camera of Victor Arimondi… ‘
she had been given it in the ’80s by her then boyfriend
(there is a prevalence of Tom Selleck style mustaches)

When I showed my partner, it took some time to convince him that the book was intended for anyone and not just for gay guys to appreciate.

Yes, i agree, the male form is just beautiful Why should a man not admire his own image, after all it is part of life and nature.

Although i would prefer looking at men who are toned and look after their bodies.

My two cents worth..:)

eargs.
i’m okay - you are okay?

very great pictures, btw.

@Neugen: Gee, one could write endless essays about homophobia and the straight male.

I think that the gay issue has made huge progress in the last 100 years - like feminism and the sexual revolution - compared to almost 1000 years of darkness in Europe.

But we are not in heaven yet - but we are working on it. One part that growth certainly has been modern art and the mass media. On one side the old male myths have been dissolved or corrected - now ones are slowly emerging. Also gay guys are more included in the big picture - and the old stereotypes are slowly dissolving as well.

@Lisa: Hmmm.

I really think that modern males are not used to be subject / objects of beauty. A males status and ‘worth’ have been measured in wits, money and social position. I think the whole pressure (woman know to well) of looking good or even being a perfect ‘body’ is a pressure most guys find hard to deal with.

So males are trained to adore beauty in woman, cars and maybe nature - but hardly in other males or themselves.

Plus there is the old ‘dick’ problem. A guys genitals still invoke the genetic race and competition in the gene pool …

It’s hard to see just the ‘art’ without seeing all these aspects as well … ;-)

@Shelly41: Hello and welcome. Yeah, looking a blobs sucks - that’s why I removed all mirrors in my place. It’s bad enough to be unfit - I don’t need to see it as well … ;-)
