A new year - and 364 shiny new days to go! Somehow I don’t really connect with all these strange festivals and old religious festivals like Christmas. But it is important to celebrate the passage of time - to set personal milestones to measure what has happened in one’s life.

One year I wound up celebrating all of the major - and some of the minor - pagan holidays with a pair of witch-priestesses and a few friends. Ever since I’ve felt far more aware of the cycles of life, of Nature, and of the year.
The modern view of the changing seasons all too often means a time to either put away or retrieve one’s heavier/lighter clothing, and/or purchase new garments. (That is not true of true gardeners, and certainly not agriculturalists and farmers.) No wonder we’ve got so far away from the original meanings of our holidays.
@xtine: Sorry of the late reply. I think we should have traditional festivals that still make ’sense’. Christmas is so made up and stuffed over the Solstice it’s unbelievable.
Natural festivals can be observed - or still have relevance for us.
Or maybe more celebrations of important values?
We should have a global peace day that is serious festival where people are encouraged to do something nice or make peace with someone …
