Fuck Heroism - Death in War is always a cruel and unnatural thing

war_death_in_wire

In all our cultures we have developed a stupid admiration for soldiers killed in combat. We call them Heroes - and give them medals posthumously and erect statues for them. This won’t save them - it only makes us fell better for sending them to death for some stupid cause.

Funny enough: we don’t have any nice words, medals or statues for civilians who were also killed (by soldiers) in a war. We consider them simply sad losses, collateral damage or simply numbers. No medals for them and no heroic tales about these poor people.

Militarism is a group psychosis to justify killing each other and give soldiers an incentive and reason to end a strangers life for abstract goals like nationalism, racism or simply greed of the ruling classes.

“Militarism is a group psychosis to justify killing each other and give soldiers an incentive and reason to end a strangers life for abstract goals like nationalism, racism or simply greed of the ruling classes.”

If someone experiences true selfless love of your fellows and the freedom you enjoy then any war to take away that freedom is worth the sacrifice in love of your freedom and the Nation that gives us that freedom. Killing is wrong and like abortion it should only be done when other methods are exhausted yet war is when one side will not submit to compromise.

Islam is a theocracy that will not submit to anyone in there goal of a one world caliphate. If militarism is a group psychosis then all would need to surrender to the sword of Islam. There will be peace under the sword as all will be in submission to that theocracy. There is nothing wrong with Nationalism if it means the personal freedom of a democratic process that is worth dieing for in order to preserve that freedom for future generations.

If more understood the religious imperative that Islam represents to people like Osama Bin laden then the preemptive effort to stop the one world caliphate would make sense.

Strong emotion against war is a reasonable reaction to abhorrence to death and destruction yet the only way to achieve this ideal is to submit totally to anyone who would kill until total surrender is achieved.

@Jackanapes: Militarism is a general sickness - Religion makes it easier to deliver a reason to slaughter “the others”.

Dunno why you always pull Islam into the discussion - especially since during the crusades and rule of the British Empire European militarism was also fueled by equally stupid arguments from the Christian side.

Overall most wars have been started by elitist desires and false reasons. The usual tunes was “us against them”.

Regarding saving the Nation for future generations: was that not also the reason for Vietnam? And how well that worked!

In the long run all Empires stumbled over their own swords and lousy arguments to be superior and “good”.

Only peace, cooperation, education, trade, just and rich societies will guarantee peace. Full stomachs and schools provide more security against Osamas, Hitlers or any other creep.

“Only peace, cooperation, education, trade, just and rich societies will guarantee peace. Full stomachs and schools provide more security against Osamas, Hitlers or any other creep.”

What you have said did not provide any guarantee against Hitler and the ideology of Islam is not going to care about how good your education is. The crusades have little to do with true Biblical doctrine and you will find no justification in the New Testament that will condone some of the past injustices that where done in the usurped name of Christ.

There is plenty in the Qur’an to support the world wide take over of a Muslim Theocracy.

Please tell me how a full stomach is going to stand against the coming storm of militarism and religion combined in the synthesis of Islam.

@Jackanapes: I am really bored by your repeating arguments against Islam - you should apply the same scrutiny to your own religion. It actually applies to all chirsto-judeo branches - they all want to rule the world according to their dogma.

And they are no guarantees against people like Hitler or bad rulers. The is no perfect human system of government. All these “perfect system” - like perfect religions - go down the drain.

“Please tell me how a full stomach is going to stand against the coming storm of militarism and religion combined in the synthesis of Islam.”

That is very simple: currently over 30% of Muslims are under 30 year old and unemployed. So you have a huge angry, disillusioned, uneducated and poor mass of young males hungry for action.

If these people had jobs, proper education, regular sex and income they wouldn’t be fertile ground for hate, religion and dogmas.

Very simple. Well fed Muslims are not hungry for death … only desparate ones are.

I am really bored by your repeating arguments against Islam - you should apply the same scrutiny to your own religion. It actually applies to all chirsto-judeo branches - they all want to rule the world according to their dogma.

And I am glad to be here to perhaps prick your confirmation bias with some reality. ;-)

You will not find any dreams of imperialist empire in the message of Jesus Christ. I am truly sorry that your Christian experience was not a good one. Perhaps that experience did not inform regarding the message of love and brotherhood that a loving Creator gave us all in the sacrifice of Jesus.

“All these “perfect system” - like perfect religions - go down the drain.”

This is true in that you will never find perfection coming from man. Even when given a message of love and fellowship that instruct us on a means of happy good orderly direction we can all corrupt that in the lens of our own perspective.

“If these people had jobs, proper education, regular sex and income they wouldn’t be fertile ground for hate, religion and dogmas.”

Understand that reality is more powerful than a good and proper sentiment.

There can be no moral equivalence of Islam and Christianity.

“There can be no moral equivalence of Islam and Christianity.”

There can be NO moral equivalence from ANY religion.

Dear Orangeguru, I will try hard not to use insults but I must ask, just how stupid can you be? Is your (understandable) desire for peace so strong that it’s warped your brain? We can cure Islamic terrorism simply be making sure young Muslim men have education, jobs, and regular trips to a bordello? are you serious?!

Why are people like you soooooo blind to reality and truth? If lack of jobs, education, and/or regular sex is the root cause of Islamic, or any kind of, terrorism then please explain Osama ben Laden, a well educated billionaire’s son with at least 20 kids. Obviously, OBL doesn’t fit your theory. And what about the 9/11 hijakcers, none of whom were poor? And if poverty really was the cause of terrorism, then please explain why there are no Haitian suicide bombers. Please explain why the impoverished masses of India aren’t flying planes into buildings.

Wake up, man! The cause of Islamic terrorism is Islam. No amount of prosperity, education, or sex will demobilized Mohammed’s radicalized millions. The only thing we can do is fight back, like Charles Martel and Jan Sobieski…or send an army of Christian, Hindu, or Bhuddist missionaries into Muslim lands to convert them to faiths not given to promising their followers 70 virgins if only they blow themselves up.

@Seane-Anna: Hello and welcome.

Since you started your comment with a personal insult I won’t answer your arguments in detail.

I don’t mind political controversy on my blog, but I do mind personal attack in the very first sentence.

I most certainly accept an apology and then we can have a more civilized discussion.

Your turn.
