Frontline Bush’s War - a brilliant documentary about the Iraq war

wa_bushs_war_frontline

Once again Frontline delivers an excellent documentary about current US affairs. Once again solid work offering many insight. Once again Frontline helps us to put many pieces of the puzzle into one big picture. Once again - thank you Frontline for the great work and allowing us bloody foreigners to watch the whole thing online.

More? Watch it all online with many bonus interviews you won’t see on TV.

I watched this documentary (and liked it) but you may be interested in Ray McGovern’s take on this program. He found it to be
Too Timid, Too Little, Too Late

Much of this material was known (or strongly suspected) to those who were paying attention, even before the invasion of Iraq. PBS/NPR (and the media in general), seemed uninterested in the caveats, the dissenters and all those who wanted to let Hans Blix continue his efforts. Iraq was “Job #1″ for Bush and Cheney and the media mostly saluted and marched behind them. This is a nice post-mortem, but it resurrects none of those who have died.

@Sharkat: Hello again! Dunno who Ray McGovern is -but his words are true …

Although I have to defend Frontline a bit here, because they made several other EXCELLENT documentaries about the Bush Regime before (Like Rumsfelds war, Iraq the lost years and one about Cheney).

I see this one as missing piece of all former reports -that is why many interviews from former episodes are woven into the time line.

Too bad that constructive criticism didn’t slow down / stop Bush / Cheney in their tracks.

But I wonder if these people would be stopped by anything coming from the media anyway?

As I said, I <liked the program, just wished it had come earlier. As you say, no amount of media opposition alone could stop BushCo, but it might have helped increase the very real opposition that was growing (even in the US) before the invasion. More of that might have made a difference.

Ray McGovern is a (~ 26 year) former CIA agent and one of the founders of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS). He is also the guy who stood up at the Rumsfeld press conference and called bullshit on his WMD lies.

@Sharkat: Thanks for the insight regarding Mr. McGovern. After you named that Rumsfeld event I remembered him.

Well I guess that in the next election all that public noise and documentaries will make a difference!

Please no Mr John McBush 2.0 - his recent speeches scare me. He really seems obsessed being more Bushie than Bush.

But so far the voter turnout / interest seems highly encouraging! I am happy with either Billary or Obama.

signed. Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey

Bob Schiefer also does a good job of showing, in this instance Rumsfeld, for the liar he is. It baffles me that Bush and Cheney have not been impeached.
