Is there such a thing as a perfect voice?

BBC News: Formula ’secret of perfect voice’

Researchers say they have worked out a mathematical formula to find the perfect human voice.

Interesting article - make sure to listen the male and female computer voices. They sounds very posh - and a bit gay to me.

I am wondering if the "perfect voice" is as much a "trend" as are certain looks?

Both computer-animated voices sounds really exactly like the voies of the actors in the english lessons of the school TV in GDR times: clean and quite clearly. Especially the male voice sounds very androgynous. I only remember the name of the female actor: Anne - maybe also the perfect and typical name of a woman?? ;) What would say the researchers for it?
As for me, Robert de Niro has the perfect male voice, respective his voice actor: Christian Brückner :)

@Doro: Yeah you are right - they sound “clean” - too clean for my taste. But as for computer generated voices they are brilliant and much “warmer” than other speech synthesis I have heard before.

When I comes to voices - I do like Orson Welles, Vincent Price and Alec Guinness. Don’t have any female favorite - anything “blond” like Marilyn Monroe usually does the trick for me …
