Rock’n'Roll was the first youth movement / culture that happened. But it also started a new thing called Lifestyle Industry.
Today for every lifestyle and youth trend there is a eager industry to exploit it. The youngsters try to stay “fresh” and ahead of commercialization - but they usually fail.
Rock’n'Roll is now just a big industry - just look at such stupid stuff like Hard Rock Cafes or Best of Rolling Stones CDs. It’s just recycling.
It happened to Rock. It happened to Techno. It happened to Hip Hop. They all became commercialized mainstream lifestyles …
Yeah… the feelings are not the same… I remember the time, when i go down on my knees, if i could have a new single-recording of one of my favorites. I heard it again and again…
And so i`m not sure, if i understand the kids today… Is it the same feeling?
But mainstream is only in our head ..or in our ´to-much-consuming-heart` …?
