We have a huge global crises – mostly in Leadership

Plus BBC News: Leaders welcome G20 action plan

It is amazing to see how all these leaders from almost all leading nations are failing. It’s not just failure. They are making things worse. They just throw more and more public money they don’t have at huge corporations without a long term plan or strings attached.

Neither the bankers nor the Auto industry have to follow any rules, pay a "price" or "change" in any way to get the money. The same people that have failed their companies, stockholders and the markets are still in command in most of these greedy enterprises.

Why not let these companies goes bankrupt and let proper bankruptcy laws and management take over and get rid of these failed companies?

Otherwise they will be back in six or twelve months asking again for more money. And these bailouts are unfair. There are companies that haven’t failed. They are punished and have to deal with hugely subsidized competitors in the future.

Neither the "free markets" work nor does the "nanny state".

And we all have to watch the all these managers and politicians fail us again and again.

EU officially fucked by the recession

wa_eu_recession

BBC News:  Eurozone officially in recession

Thank you so much – I have hardly recovered from the dotcom bubble burst! Why can’t there be a new kinda gold rush or green revolution that brings in a lot of money.

Thank you very much America and your unregulated financial institutions!

But Europe really has had a bad economy for some time – and not much growth anyway. So even the slightest wobbles make the EU nation quake in their economic boots.

Britain and Spain have been hit hard by the housing crises. But only British banks crumbled like mad, Spain had much better regulation and oversight. The Spanish bank Santander is currently picking up former competitors all over Europe.

But I am still not sure what to do with these terrorists in Iceland! They still insist they are normal people just like and me.

Many developing currently battle rich people’s diseases like Obesity and Diabetes

wa_india_fat_baby

BBC News: India battles diabetes ‘epidemic’

It’s ironic: finally many nations can feed their masses and develop a "healthy" middle class segment in their societies.

But with more food also come more problems. Many developing suddenly face problems like obesity, heart attacks and diabetes.

Especially junk food proves to be as devastating in these developing nations as it is in rich ones.

How many people are in your car when you take a ride?

wa_lets_ride_together

Richness breeds complacency and egoism. In rich nations most cars just transport a single person from A to B.

Only a few people in industrialized nations are willing to use their own bicycle or any other less fuel guzzling means to transport themselves. Sure there are many people who use public transport – but those who use cars usually ride alone.

It’s such an irony, since most cars simply transport themselves, because that single person hardly makes a difference moving a ton of metal and plastic.

Computer says No – or why we rely on Data Mining to run our Lives, Social Interaction and Society

digital_accepting_your_computers_choice

Sure life has changed in the last twenty years a lot. But apart from the obvious technological change and all these gadgets around us – there are far more dramatic changes in our social, economical and political behavior.

Statistics and mathematical problem solving has been around for ages – but with today’s huge databases, networks and extremely cheap processing power suddenly “smart” computer advice is shaping our everyday life …

Imogen Cunningham – The Plea 1910

Imogen Cunningham - The Plea 1910

Imogen Cunningham is one early masters in her field. Shehas made many shots and scenes that have been recreated over and over by other photographers.

It is sad that such old Masters are often forgotten or lost. I think that Madame Cunningham doesn’t deserve that fate – her compositions and shots are especially intriguing and sensual.

And they still speak to us almost a hundred years later.

Is China eating the World?

wa_China_eating_the_world

We are used that the Americans are the most wasteful and resource devouring nation on earth. But China is currently overtaking the Americans being number one in so many things: pollution, energy and food consumption.

China’s hunger for concrete, oil, milk and so many other commodities has raised prices and shifted the markets focus to Asia. (India’s rising middle class is also developing a growing appetite.)

It certainly is a great opportunity for other nations to supply the needs of China, but especially with the growing environmental problems the Asian huge hunger for almost everything is more a threat than an opportunity.

But neither the west, nor the far east are really willing to slow down or make serious efforts to cut down their energy, pollution and food appetites.

China defends it’s hunger with the necessity of upgrading it’s vast country up to western standards. And how can the west demand from China not to modernize?

Martin Schoeller – Female Bodybuilders

Martin Schoeller - Rosemary Jennings female_body_builders

Martin Schoeller is brutal. He has a keen eye for reality and not ashamed to showing you what he sees in a very honest and direct way. But he is presenting his point of view without any nasty afterthought.

His series "Female Bodybuilders" is pretty harsh, yet has it’s own beauty and fascination. The almost transmuted bodies of these women are very different from the skinny supermodels we are used to see. But they are also very different from everyday women.

They are unique by their own design and desire. Yet they also have a sad quality to them as well.

I think the photographer and his subjects are brave and honest in this series. Therefore they stretch our limits of perception and normality. Therefore it’s great art. Bodyart and photography.

What will his last turkey be?

wa_bush_his_last_turkey

President Bush is now on his way out – but still the world is not save. There still could be a final act of stupidity that will cause the world or the American people some serious trouble?

And what about all the turkeys we haven’t heard of? I am pretty sure that after January the 20th a great many people will come forward and tell us nasty things that have happened under the rule of Mad King George and Dart Cheney.

And poor President Obama. He and his time will have to start the biggest cleanup in history.

Old and still horny – all you have left are memories?

modern_old_and_horny

Since we are all getting older "mature" sex is becoming the norm. But our bodies are not built for an "eternal sex life". Gravity always wins pretty early in the game – and our libido and potency  seem to quit in our mid-40s.

Bad luck?

It is a cruel joke of Mother Nature, to allow us still to be horny in old age, but lack the proper equipment to do it.

All you can do is a proper mindfuck.

Home sweet new Home!

<Digimax i6 PMP, Samsung #11 PMP>

Sorry for the blog silence, but I have moved to a new flat and still have no DSL connection. So my net access is limited and I am still screwing Ikea furniture.

I am glad to have moved out of my old place. It was a rather noisy place (with many building places going on all the time) with some rather unpleasant room mates.

Whatever. That’s history now.

I love my new place. Wooden floors, a nice bedroom, living room, great bath with a bath tub I will spend the rest of my life, great kitchen, balcony and a small storage room for all my crap. I even have a garage for my non-existing car.

And I have some lovely new neighbors: two cute squirrels (a red and a almost black one), a woodpecker and many small birds.

There are even some humans and their little clones. So far they haven’t annoyed me too much.

I am slowly getting back into the new groove.

Normal blogging will resume as soon as I have a decent bandwidth.

Thanks for your patience …
