This artical is bias please dont put things like this on the web most hunters are more sane with guns then and city lover because they were raised to respect their power. If you have ever shot a deer and looked afterward you would see the danger when bone fragments chewed up the inside. No sane person would ever play around with them EVER.

While I respect your opinion, this is not how things are going down – at least among the gun owners I know. Yes, people are under the impression that the government is going to move to repeal their constitutional right to keep and bear arms, but they are not a bunch of right wing nut bags. They are mostly responsible Americans who choose to exercise their constitutional right to own a gun, with which they hunt, sport, and protect themselves. This has nothing to do with Obama being black, this has to do with liberals who feel they know what is best for all people. Personally, I do not own a gun, but with rampant unemployment and crime on the rise because of it I am tempted to do so. If a criminal tries to get into my home, and possibly hurt my family in the process of trying to take what is mine, I feel that I am justified in protecting myself and my family by any means necessary. This is part of what the founding fathers had in mind when they wrote the constitution. I think it is crazy that in the UK you CAN’T own a gun, and the police run around with these little toy billy clubs. Please, really? All you have done there is allow only the criminals and underworld of society to have all the guns – and prevented honest citizens from having the ability to effectively and responsibly protect themselves.

We are not cowards, and we can face democracy just as you can, but we also choose not to give up our rights to protect ourselves and our families.

The government and the police are NOT the answer to everything – this is the fallacy of the liberal mindset – and the reason the USA is going down the drain.

When we lost the ability and the drive to do for ourselves what we now expect the government to do for us we lost what made us great.

@Joe smoe: If someone is a hunter that’s fine with me. I never would criticize people who buy guns with a practical prupose (like Farmers, who live in remote place and have sometimes to put lifestock down).

I write here about people who are shitting their pants, because an “evil black communist” sits in the White House …

The criminal rate is much lower in the UK, despite the mostly unarmed Policemen.

Your argument has a fundamental flaw: neither guns or even not even the death penalty are stopping real criminal.

You correctly identified poverty and a miserable economy as one factor for theft.

Here in Europe there are better social networks to help people who lost their jobs or who are without any income. Yes, these are “socialist” or rather social tools to make societies more just, fair and balanced. Good education and a health care system also help a lot to reduce crime!

Where did I imply that the Government / Police solves every problem or should be in charge of our lives?

The reason why the US faces such big economical challenges is because the people in the Bush government let the so called Free Markets run wild and didn’t check the markets. They basically made stealing legal or didn’t “police” the markets as the law required.

When we lost the ability and the drive to do for ourselves what we now expect the government to do for us we lost what made us great.

I would call that an illusion my friend.

Today’s world is extremely complex: you need experts for example to understand the complicated mathematical world of finance and stock markets. Normal citizens can’t do such jobs.

You want experts to work for the people – that’s called public services.
