Environmentalists who want to “save” the environment make it worse. Because they want to protect the trees and things like “snail darters” they won’t let people go in and clear out the dead brush. More dead brush, means more wildfires.
The ironic part is that the intelligentsia who think they’re protecting the environment buy houses out in the Hollywood hills and then their homes are threatened by the wildfires. Serves them right!
This fire is in the Angeles National Forest in the San Gabriel Mountains, not the Hollywood Hills and it was started by arson making the two firemen who died victims of homocide. However, this area has neither burned nor been cleared for a long time, making it prime fire fuel.
@Jason: Yep, there is such a thing as dumb environmentalists. Many “real” environmentalists support often policies that “dumb” ones neither understand nor support. Sad, but true …
