Although flying makes long journeys much shorter (ever tried to walk from London to Moscow?), they are incredibly stressful.

And when we have to wait during our modern journey (at the gate, check-in, takeoff or landing) every minute feels like eternity.

Therefore I presume Air travel happens in a different Time-Space-Continuum.

Modern Life is anything but complex. We use complex chemicals to keep ourselves clean, produce electronic gadgets and most of all – food!

Even when you are a super-eco-friendly vegan the whole infrastructure around you uses tons of chemicals to get stuff to you.

It is an illusion to live a "clean" lifestyle. Even many green products use "natural" chemicals.

I don’t think evolution considered animals to be educational toys for the young and inexperienced humans?

Cuteness does not automatically protect from animals cruelty and a painful learning curve for both sides.

Can anyone please explain to me the pleasures of winter camping? The cold? The cold? Or the cold?

We are currently reaching Peak Oil.

Less Oil means higher prices for Petrol and Fertilizers.

Expensive Petrol and Fertilizers will raise Food Prices and lower overall production.

Less Food means Starvation.

Starvation will reduces the amount of Humans.

Less Humans means less Industry and Farming.

Less Industry and Farming will reduce CO2 and Climate Change.

Global Grain stocks are already in decline and food prices have skyrocketed in recent years (especially for poor nations).

The Celebrity Obsession found a much better soil to grow on and accelerate to new insane heights. “Leaked” sex tape and naughty photos on the net (read YouTube) allowed unknown starlets to become world wide brands within 24 hours.

Websites like TMZ and Bloggers like Perez Hilton became the new News Channels and pushed classical mainstream media aside. Media Whores like Paris or the Cutchers could also build their audiences via Twitter and Facebook.

Thanks to new technology we could track, watch and talk about (and with celebrities) 24/7. Their lives became our lives …

Suddenly we mere mortals could be “friends” with our Alpha-Males & Females. Social Porn (read also my essay “Why do we love to watch Social Porn on TV?“) became a much stronger and intimate part of our lives – we were “connected” with the stars and could “talk” with them …

Death is just the beginning for some …

But nobody epitomized our Celebrity Obsession like the life and death of Michael Jackson. From his downfall, ruin and trial to his sudden death … the whole globe was watching and going mad with hysteria.

Jacko is now a modern God – his fans worship him like one and I wonder if this madness will increase the longer he is dead?!

Michael Jackson might well be our first Cradle-2-Grave-Celebrity – who’s first and last steps have been documented without mercy for the real person behind the surgery.

Why do we make little girls into little princesses instead of preparing them to be wise women and queens who take responsibility?

Many women never get out of that role and stick to naive and romantic world view.

Modern TV also sticks to that behaviour: all those Top Model reality TV series enforce that stupid behaviour – just be pretty and adorable.

The good old sentence "when are you getting married" is considered no longer to be "politically correct".

Thanks to Feminism young women are no longer pressured to marry, mate and pump out clones as young as possible. At least that’s what we pretend to tell ourselves in our modern lives.

But all the pressure to look sexy and adorable is all about being a good catch for mating. So the old biological pressure is still there – but simply disguised as a "personality cult" (I am so cool and adorable) and consumerism ("buy this and your social ranking rises" – translation: more people want to mate with you).

We still are unable to differentiate between a person’s biological physical capabilities and their true identity. Our sexuality is not our identity – it is just a genetic mission every member of your sex is programmed to follow.

Red lips are a physical indicator that a female is aroused – not an indicator that you spent six years at an University …

It is such a joke when Women buy for example makeup to bring out "their personality" – it is actually only about advertising your fertility to sperm donors.

A new Post-Feminist-Movement wants females to be wild, sexy and smart, but that won’t stop the hormones from flowing and won’t guarantee happy relationships either.

I am a "real women" – I stuffed myself to have extra fat reserves for growing a baby inside of me …

Especially sarcastic is the modern brain fart of "being a real women".

What does that mean?

Following your "female instincts" and therefore following your genetic programming anyway by simply getting humped by the best available partner?

Any woman – real or not – is built to birth.

Your fat ass is nothing else, but an energy storage when you get pregnant and nature has designed you to be a perfect birthing machine. Mother Nature is cruel: she gives a shit about your great personality, those many hours in the gym to get rid of that "baby food" or long years of education.

But we are not completely slaves to nature.

How about being a "real person" first – understanding that women are as much shaped to serve  the genetic programming as males are.

Unless both men and women understand and are truly in command of their sexuality there won’t be a new age of consciousness  and equality between the sexes.

Each time we flush the toilet we waste perfectly good amount of water. Our water systems in our houses and flats are stupid: it should collect hardly dirty water from showering, washing machines and washing up to flash down crap.

Christmas – like so many festivals – is a clone of the winter solstice celebrations.

The winter solstice is an important moment for any primitive agricultural society: the days get longer and spring isn’t far off. It also is an important date, it helps you to figure out when to till your fields and start sowing your seeds – especially when you have no clocks and internet.

So celebrating the winter solstice is important and it’s no surprise why people stuffed themselves with yummy food (if it was available). Those yummy and calorie rich treats also are meant to help you to master the rest of the winter.

But today we hardly suffer from no food in harsh and long winters. You can even have typical European summer fruits like Strawberries and exotic bananas all year round.

There is hardly any hunger or scarceness these days in rich countries. We consume HUGE amounts of sugar and other treats all year long.

So why not go sugar & treat free until Christmas to REALLY get into the spirit and celebrating that day by eating something you don’t have EVERY day?

Power usually makes us males more attractive. One method to get power is the sword, but it’s literally a bloody affair to catch some females this way.

The pen- or better say the arts seem a much better way. Less stress, less killings, less danger …

Sure, not everybody is a great artist, but there is also the simple option of starting a business and working hard to raise your social status for pussy catching.

Since the early 80’s there has been a Tsunami of afternoon talk shows filled with social drama and pain.

And we are loving it!

It is amazing how the Queens and Kings of "honesty" and "self righteousness" are police, judge and executioner in one person. Oprah made Billions of Dollars with her tears, Jeremy Kyle currently tries to do the same in the UK.

But the real question is: Why do we frenetically watch and love Social Porn?

Every tear is worth a million dollars …

It all comes down to us being social animals. When you look at many fellow mammals they have social hierarchies like us with different ranks. Everybody knows what an alpha-male or alpha-female is.

But one essential feature of social networking (the real thing, not the simulation on Facebook) is watching other "animals" in the tribe. Watching the "others" allows us to spot opportunities to climb the social ladder, make new friends, know who our enemies are and our enemies’ enemies are.

The most important part of watching others is to learn where you stand in the tribe’s hierarchy and your chances to climb higher or fail …

Yeah, you might be bigger, but my social ranking is higher …

For some animals this is much easier: dogs sniff other dogs arse or even sample their urine or poo – and can analyse from this the status and current health of the fellow canine.

We primates have developed the face as the main social interFACE. Compared to most other animals the primates’ face has the more muscles and expressions than anyone else on this planet. Ape and human faces have an incredible range of "gestures" – which work even across species.

Our faces tell complete stories without words. We can socialize simply by looking at each other. You usually can see in an instant if someone looking at you likes you or hates you; if there is a chance for a better social contact or if that other person might even attack you …

So by watching and gossiping with others about others we learn what’s going on in the group, what the other members strengths and weaknesses are, and which tactics are successful or devastating.

Being successful in climbing the social ladder increases our chances of mating and spreading our genes. Yes, Ladies & Gentleman, it all comes down to mating once again …

And watching social porn on TV confirms this: it’s mostly about sex and cheating.

When we watch these dramas, we learn how to "protect" our own social involvement and genetic "investment". Of course we want partners, who are safe for our offspring and support them. We don’t want cheats that are a danger to our sperm or egg investment – and therefore perpetuation of our "selfish gene".

Social Porn on TV is a highly valuable lesson to "spot" cheaters and avoid failures in reproduction.

Wait a minute! Is that critter really mine?!

So watching social porn on TV and gossiping about relationships has an important biological benefit. We learn how to be successful animals and mating mates …

But there is also a strong social and moral component to it. We humans have transformed many "biological mechanisms" into social rules like married people do not engage in sex with strangers. Based on these social rules we have created moral and religious restrictions as well.

"You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife (or husband)." is simply a biological need (protecting your sperm & eggs from invaders) turned into a social and moral rule.

So Social Porn also enforces these "morals" when cheaters and liars get booed by the audience and judged by the presenter. That is why the Ladies in the audience hiss, when a boyfriend cheated on his bitch – it’s a violation of the biological contract of only breeding exclusively together.

This social pressure is once again there to protect our biological investments.

We love watching Alpha-Couples, especially when they are media whores and on twitter.

The biological background also explains why we love watching alpha-animals of the global tribe and their relationships. Like good herd animals we learn from watching the strongest and fittest of our flock.

That is why so many people know more about the life’s of celebrities and their relationships than their neighbours living in the same house. Our biological desire is to swim ahead in the genetic pool and score the most adorable eggs or sperm available. That is why some ladies fantasize about sleeping with Bruce Willies, while Guy virtually impregnate Megan Fox.

That’s Social Porn in it’s most basic form and desire. Women and men do it equally.

People love fluffy pets – it’s only a matter of time till the toy, pet and genetic industry team up and create some cuddly abomination.

Like glowing fish nature will be perverted for the sake of consumerism. Poor animals.

First you have to learn to cope with boners from looking at almost anything. You try to dry hump and masturbate your way out, because you are too young and too stupid for a proper girlfriend.

Finally you get a girl friend, but you have to learn to behave, be nice and please her lust too.

You grow older and you are in serious relationships. Sex no longer is a spontaneous and overwhelming experience – it’s just all too bloody complicated now.

Life gets a bit easier, you are no longer under constant sexual pressure. It would be a great time to enjoy sex with a mature attitude and some knowhow. But now you have to cope with the "excitement" of failure when your penis simply refuses to work because you are too stressed or simply not interested in sex right now …

As an old fart you start to totally loose interest, pressure and stiffness for the whole affaire – and you wonder why you spent most of you life wasting so much time chasing and pleasing women …

Alcoholism is still one of the biggest pests hurting our societies. Being drunk is accepted by most societies (don’t try it in Saudi Arabia), but being stoned isn’t. And thanks to binge drinking many kids die, become alcoholics or cause serious problems. Cheap booze is also affecting many adults. In Britain there a great worries about the huge unhealthy amount of alcohol that is consumed just while watching telly or sitting at home.

Alcohol is a serious drug (like nicotine), but it legal and accepted as a "social lubricant" and accepted "escape" from modern life.

A total ban is certainly a drastic step and certainly would help to a certain extend. But a smarter move would be making strong drinks very expensive or banning them altogether, including such products aimed at young people and teenagers like Alco pops (sweet juices mixed with strong drinks like Vodka or Whiskey).

Also we have to look closer why people want to knock themselves out so desperately – like misguided idea of a War on Drugs – a battle against alcoholism can only succeed if people are more content and less under pressure.

Banning poverty would be the best weapon against alcohol …

Most Westerners waste precious fossil resources by  travelling alone in their cars or on their bikes. In developing nations cars, motor bikes and even push bikes are for mass transport.

If you travel alone on a car 95% of the petrol will be wasted  to move the car – not to transport you.

If the distance allows it than use public transport or a bike – or a small vehicle with a better weight to passenger ratio.

Westerners should see cars and motorbikes no longer as cool lifestyle choices(for their penis or social status), but as serious tools to be shared with others. The age of unsustainable individual transport has to come to an end.

Today I wanted to buy some packaged sliced salmon. It looked good from the outside and wasn’t cheap either. Out of habit I checked the content description. It contained the obvious stuff like salt, sugar, anti-oxidants … and pork!?!

I understand that industrial food production relies on many chemicals to improve it’s products and make food last longer.

But pork shouldn’t be in my salmon. Thankfully the producer was honest enough to put it on it’s label – something many of his competitor won’t do.

In recent months there have been several scandals here in Germany about artificially stretched bacon and cheese – so consumers always beware!

I don’t put all the blame on the food industry: consumers want huge amount of classy food for discount prices. It’s no surprise for me that the industry uses many “techniques” to improve food to make it look & taste great, but sell it at ever low prices.

Why do so many people have problems with sleep? Insomnia and other sleep problems seem on the rise. A whole industry is dedicated to delivering sleeping solutions ranging from specialized mattresses, medication, sleep laps and consultation.

Is it our modern lifestyle that drives us so mad that we can’t come down and have a proper sleep? Or do we simply lack the physical workout to make us really tired? Too much coffee? Too much sugar? Too much excitement, TV and computer games to the last second before we try to enter dreamland?

In contrast Saudi Man love their Camels, have Camel beauty contests and racing competitions. Something their women wouldn’t be allowed participate the similar human events.

The camels have more rights than women in Saudi Arabia.

The modern and very bored office worker seems to hunger for fun, excitement and danger.

That is why "extreme" and so called "fun sports" were invented.

I prefer to think of them of great ways to trim the herd and make the idiots kill themselves – instead of endangering other sensible humans by driving their cars to fast …

So "action people" go and climb a mountain, jump of cliffs and surf huge waves …

Vacations for workers – or so called little people – is a pretty new invention. Thanks to our social minded forefathers and their fight for justice we received "free days" and then even "paid vacations".

The now roaming masses created a huge tourism industry, which was actually good for developing remote places and creating even more jobs.

But your vacation is still only a privilege – if the economy goes down the drain you’ll loose it fast. And in many undeveloped nations many of our fellow humans hardly have a day off. Often they only get off work when there is a huge national or religious holiday.

So enjoy your summer vacation and drink a margarita to all those less fortunate than you!

I think we would care much more about old people if they would suddenly become powerful witches and wizards – capable to curse their ignorant offspring’s …

Instead we often let them rot powerlessly in some forgotten homes or hospitals … or should we call them hell on earth?

It’s so easy and tempting to follow your basic instincts and societies fool proof models. But is it really you? Are you mostly driven by your biology or your so called personality? Are you perpetuating just the species or do you have a "real life"?

Today we are constantly bombarded by messages and new initiatives to save the environment, the green turtle of south Peru and other more esoteric causes. There are gazillion initiatives and groups out there trying to bring “awareness” to us ignorant consumers.

But you hardly hear people talking and caring about the growing millions of jobless people. Bing out of work is still a big social stigma and almost always a personal tragedy, especially when kids are involved.

Here in socialist & communist Europe most people benefit from our strong social networks – paid for by our high taxes. Unemployment benefits obviously help a lot, but there still is the psychological and social impact. Only a few groups care about these fellow humans and their problems. A good unemployed citizen is meant to help himself and find a new job quickly.

But it’s often not that easy. Most people who have been goo employees are often not very good organizing and motivating themselves. And being rejected is always a blow to the psyche.

In times of an economical downturn we need to include everybody and include those who are not as fortunate as those with a steady job.

Parents face the difficult task of explaining the complex reality of violence and brutality in our world. But also what it means to be peaceful, deal with monsters and also to protect yourself.

Consumerism sometimes produces strange products, I don’t see a large market for this thing here in Europe.

Does it still take a whole village to raise child?

In modern countries the old "system" of learning from your parents, your younger and older siblings, relatives, friends, the elders and the rest village are almost gone.

Most kids grow up with single parents without any siblings. The modern family network usually is very small and doesn’t offer a "full set" of relatives. Even the grandparents show less and less interest in their genetic offspring’s anymore.

Sure we have schools and universities to learn at. But they teach us not much about life – they mostly transfer only knowledge and facts. Sure, there is social interactions, but not the Wisdom of the Tribe.

But was is the Wisdom of the Tribe. Today we would call the "Tribe" your "social network" – but it should really include your extended family (genetically and spiritually). It’s wisdom is how to handle life, how to deal with problems, an understanding about each persons "essence" in the tribe, growing up, listening to old stories, adapting family histories and finally taking responsibility for your own life. The tribe also teaches you how to deal with death – diving into spirituality and creating your own mythology for your own mental survival.

A great way to learn about real life? 

Most of these things are left to shrinks or anti-depressants. Television provides most of the myths in form of fairy tales and heroes we model our life’s after. In a sad way more kids have been impressed by James T. Kirk than by their own fathers or anyone in their families.

Many generations living together as a tribe give each other a chance to learn from each others current state of mind and problems of their current phase in life. It’s learning by watching and relating – young with old.

Today we hardly have such intimate insights into human life – it’s either from a distance or from TV.

Josef Fritzl is currently on trial – but can there be justice? Like in all cases that involve violence there is no way to "make it good again". Pain, death, abuse and all forms of violence can’t be healed by punishing the evil doers.

So how does society deal with monsters?

Old versions of law were based on revenge – an eye for an eye . You inflicted pain – and the law punished you with even more pain. Seems logical – and stupid at the same time.

Today we are more "humanitarian" – we "remove" monsters from ordinary society and lock them up. Physical punishment is rare – instead we just punish them by a slow death or by stealing their life.

Human society always had to deal with the reality that monsters and murderers are not stopped by laws or even capitol punishment. The victims will never be healed or really compensated what happened to them (not to speak of the bloodlust of the mob).

The real evil is that there is no healing or compensation for victims. A harsh truth.

Being a hairdresser for old grumpy woman must be one of equal torture to the inner rings of hell.

All that moaning and bitching of your clientele until the finally snuff it. You become unwilling witness to every unimportant medical incident and family squabble in human history. Who wants to hear all that?!

Have played a board game lately? Apart from families with kids it seems a forgotten kind of entertainment. Instead of playing with your PC, XBox or whatever over the internet, why not invite some friends over and have a purely analogue evening? It’s much more fun to cheat playing a board game …

Ah, one of the simple pleasure of life: a hot bath or shower, some soap and a firm brush. Let the scrubbing begin. It’s not just about cleaning yourself, but to take care of our biggest organ: the skin.

Regular brushing is good for the skin, stimulates the blood flow and the senses.

And don’t forget the mutual brushing with a friend – just for fun and wellness (no naughty thoughts or action required). In ancient Rome and Medieval Public Baths people used to get scrubbed by friends all the time. Only today we find seeing each other (half)naked and sharing some hygiene together a bit odd.
