Billy Connolly – The Morgue & The Giant

I am a big fan of Mr Connolly, because he such a great storyteller – an art almost lost these days. I wouldn’t consider him a “comedian”, because he is not really telling jokes – he simply reflects life and it’s madness in all it’s glory with his wit and charm.

This video is one of my favorite stories …

What kind of Geek are you?

blogosphere_56_geeks

Scott Johnson has created this great series of the 56 Geek types. it’s just brilliant and such a homage on modern day geeky lifestyle.

So here are all 56 geeks – check out which subculture you belong too – I have listed mine above (as much as I can find myself in there).

What is seriously missing is: porn geek, websurf geek, google geek, notebook geek, blog geek, art geek, green geek, nature geek and office geek.

Build your own Paper Robots

blogosphere_paper_robots

Forget about buying stupid plastic robots to make your kids happy. All you need is this website, some paper and a printer. Paper Robots has a great selection of robots and plans to make them yourself.

I think this qualifies for a nerdy: Awesome!

Surf’s up

tv_surfs_up_poster

In recent years we have seen a huge flood of computer animated specials – and Penguins – in the movie theatres.

Cuteness doesn’t work for me – at least not to watch a whole movie. But this one is weird, cool and many times very surreal. I mean surfing Penguins are strange enough – but a surfing chicken?

It’s make fun of itself (it’s made like a documentary) and all the other Penguin, Surf and Animal flicks out there. How very refreshing and actually funny.

Excellent choice for a rainy day, Duuuuude!

Top Gear goes to Africa – or how to drive cross country in totally wrecked cars

tv_topgear_crew

I really really really don’t like cars. Never owned one, probably never will. So TV shows about cars hardly appeal to me … unless it’s done in style with that dry British humor …

In this episode our three heroes try to cross one African nation with the shabbiest and oldest second hand cars they could buy off the natives. A highly amusing adventure unfolds … enjoy!

I have always been a great fan of Frank Oz’s work. He produces the kind of silent comedies I love so much. Less slapstick, but great characters and stories.

If you are looking a a dark comedy with some brains – go and watch it, rent it or buy it some other form. Watch the trailer to see what you are getting into. ;-)

Rock of Love Season 2

tv_rock_of_love_2_announcement

Aging Rockstar rides a second round into young pussy land – to find once again the love of his life.

Isn’t it nice that some old rich rock farts get alls the pussy for nothing? Where is the proper Dire Straits song when you need it?

I am – also once again – amazed that such low flying social porn sells so well. But it’s also cheaply produced: some no-longer-important-person looking for a PR gig – and loads of young and fertile persons looking for some gold and fame to dig.

Maybe it’s just our regular DNA programming of spreading ourselves disguised as a very bad TV show?

I love I love New York

tv_I_love_newyork

I am constantly amazed what kind of ‘reality’ soaps get made for the telebrain. VH1 is one of the biggest producer of amazing crap. Social porn in form of dating and humping shows are their genre. And they fiercely milk every dollar out of every micro celebrity they have created themselves. Excellent business concept!

The lovely lady above is such an example: she used to be a candidate for a dating show (big rap star looking for the perfect bitch), then she got her own mating series (I love New York – watch all episodes online if you dare)- and now ‘we’ are facing round two of this personality disaster.

Most amazing is that hundreds if not thousand of guys tried in auditions all over the US and via the intranets to get on the show as the perfect lover. I guess reality shows really create our reality more and more.

I am a great fan of Nick Parker’s work and all the Wallace & Gromit shorts – their last movie is simply brilliant: charming, wonderful humor, hardly any violence, hardly any sex at all (it’s a British movie – remember) and lovely characters. In essence really entertainment for the whole family.

And I have two new favorite characters: Phillip the bad guys dog and you rabbits. Couldn’t find any good pictures – sorry. So if you are looking for a great comedy watch the movie or rent the DVD. Highly recommended.

The Big Bang Theory

THE BIG BANG THEORY

A screwball comedy about supernerds meeting a stupid blonde. I shouldn’t like it, but I do. That is scary enough for a 40 year old non-virgin.

But even scarier is that I understand all the nerdy jokes and references. I am seriously contaminated by Nerd culture. I am sick.

Louis de Funès

One of my childhood heroes. Just loved his funny movies. I am not sure if many people outside France really know him – but here in Germany his movies were very popular. Especially loved his Gendarme / Inspector of St. Tropez and Fantomas series.

So very different from Peter Sellers version of a french policemen.

Some videos to watch: Herr Müller, Fantomas trailer and a typical case of Louis madness.

This is a very unique movie – there is hardly anything out there that comes close to it. It has some elements of a comedy to it, but most of all I would consider it a brilliant essay on modern life. Every time I watched this masterpiece I felt strange, but also amused and well educated. This is certainly not a movie if you want to be entertained by gunfire or hot chicks – it’s more like looking into a magic mirror and discover your own world from a new perspective. It also has it’s own speed and melody.

Here are some scenes on YouTube: overall videos, Trailer and Tati arrives at Corporation.

A Tribute to Peter Sellers ‘Party’

Peter Sellers will always be one of my greatest heroe’s as well as greatest tragic figures of comedy. His cooperation with Blake Edwards produced some of the greatest movies of all time – like ‘The Party‘.

You find some hilerious scenes from that movie after the fold … ah, I love Hrundi V. Bakshi!

Boston Legal

Denny Crane is the next best thing to sex on the tubes. I just love William Shatner and James Spader – one of the few great ‘odd male couple’ on tv. I was never a big fan of David E. Kelley other series, but this one is a stroke of genius -although sometimes he goes overboard with weird characters. Nevermind.

Boston Legal is also a welcomed change to all these cool and young heroes in almost any other show. Candice Bergen shows that intelligence, wisdom and charm are the essence of an adorable woman – no matter how old she is.

My source for even more Boston legal pr0n: boston-legal.org. Highly recommended since they have images and trailers long before the stuff hits the torrent.
