Just watch these …
Mr Newman is a brilliant and explosive mixture: comedian, historian, anarchist and activist. His show about oil is intelligent and insightful. You might learn more about this dark substance and it’s political influence than watching a whole year of CNN and the Discovery Channel together.
And it’s bloody funny too!
Don’t forget to visit Mr Newman’s great website and buy some of his stuff?!
*Update: This is a repost, because the old video was deleted.*
Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 and Part 4.5
I am a huge fan of British Humor - and some of their TV as well like "Have I got news for you" and "QI".
Compared to US television the Brits can be very raunchy and would say stuff that would give the American FCC multiple heart attacks (like Stephen Fry’s famous "arse gravy" quote).
This episode of HIGNFY with Brian Blessed as the host was so hilarious that the BBC didn’t broadcast it. But some generous soul made available via YouTube.
Enjoy!
If you can cope with nasty British Humor - watch & enjoy!
BBC Comedy / 48 minutes
"Goodness Gracious Me" was a great BBC comedy series placed in the large British Indian and Pakistani community. It broke many stereotypes and introduced many funny new ones.
I wish there was more "ethnic" humor like that - to get a better insight into another culture or lifestyle in a good and funny way.
Got 90 minutes to kill?
Watch some British Humor "Trigger Happy". They play nasty tricks to unsuspecting people with their weird humor and hidden cameras.
*Thanks to Edosan for some more fun in my life*
Who says it’s hard to understand other cultures humor. Some stuff is pretty universal and easy to “get”. This one cracks me up every time …
I wonder if Beethoven had an arguing couple in mind, when he wrote his 5th symphony? Just watch and enjoy.

I applaud the current writer’s strike in the US. The creative people should be paid for their stuff! But I don’t think I can cope for much longer without Stephen, John, Dr. House, Boston Legal …
But especially American political satire is needed these days with all the weird presidential election stuff going on. Bring some insanity back to explain all the political madness going on …

Since I recently complained about the lack of overall female comedy power I want to praise a great talent. She is a great writer and performer. A rare combination. And she is quite sexy without pushing the standard bimbo factors (blonde, boobs, brainless behaviour).
Get some Tina on YouTube.

In recent years we have seen a huge flood of computer animated specials - and Penguins - in the movie theatres.
Cuteness doesn’t work for me - at least not to watch a whole movie. But this one is weird, cool and many times very surreal. I mean surfing Penguins are strange enough - but a surfing chicken?
It’s make fun of itself (it’s made like a documentary) and all the other Penguin, Surf and Animal flicks out there. How very refreshing and actually funny.
Excellent choice for a rainy day, Duuuuude!

I have always been a great fan of Frank Oz’s work. He produces the kind of silent comedies I love so much. Less slapstick, but great characters and stories.
If you are looking a a dark comedy with some brains - go and watch it, rent it or buy it some other form. Watch the trailer to see what you are getting into.

I am a great fan of Nick Parker’s work and all the Wallace & Gromit shorts - their last movie is simply brilliant: charming, wonderful humor, hardly any violence, hardly any sex at all (it’s a British movie - remember) and lovely characters. In essence really entertainment for the whole family.
And I have two new favorite characters: Phillip the bad guys dog and you rabbits. Couldn’t find any good pictures - sorry. So if you are looking for a great comedy watch the movie or rent the DVD. Highly recommended.

A screwball comedy about supernerds meeting a stupid blonde. I shouldn’t like it, but I do. That is scary enough for a 40 year old non-virgin.
But even scarier is that I understand all the nerdy jokes and references. I am seriously contaminated by Nerd culture. I am sick.

At least once a year I have to watch some old Black Adder episodes - just to remind myself that there are some good comedy writers out there. Apart from the dreadful first series I can recommend to you all the other three seasons of this great show … if you like British comedy …

This is a very unique movie - there is hardly anything out there that comes close to it. It has some elements of a comedy to it, but most of all I would consider it a brilliant essay on modern life. Every time I watched this masterpiece I felt strange, but also amused and well educated. This is certainly not a movie if you want to be entertained by gunfire or hot chicks - it’s more like looking into a magic mirror and discover your own world from a new perspective. It also has it’s own speed and melody.
Here are some scenes on YouTube: overall videos, Trailer and Tati arrives at Corporation.

I am a huge Beavis and Butt-head fan (I know - it’s so 1990’s) - too bad Viacom removed almost all my beloved clips from YouTube. This one is also still there.

Peter Sellers will always be one of my greatest heroe’s as well as greatest tragic figures of comedy. His cooperation with Blake Edwards produced some of the greatest movies of all time - like ‘The Party‘.
You find some hilerious scenes from that movie after the fold … ah, I love Hrundi V. Bakshi!
The first season of the “IT-Crowd” was oke, but not brilliant like the currently running second. You can watch the most recent third episode of the second season here.
