In my next life I want to be reincarnated as a never growing Polar Bear Baby. Everybody would love me! Everybody would cuddle me! Everybody would love to feed me only the best stuff.
No sex though …

I still prefer my Easter Bunny in it’s original shape & material - like Jesus intended: in chocolate!

After Knut now Flocke (Flake) - another Polar Bear Mania sweeps the country. So many shops sell stuffed bears, the news and magazines can’t get enough of this cuddly something (image gallery here). Flocke even has her own official YouTube channel.
Madness.

There is only a certain amount of Kitsch and cuteness I can take in such miserable times as winter. Although I wouldn’t mind celebrating Holy Kittiness for the next 2000 years …

It is amazing how much Kitsch animations like that are on the web. I can understand when a little girl likes such crap, but when so called grown up woman indulges in such little dream worlds it becomes a case for a therapist.
Still waiting for your knight in shining armor too?

Cute baby Knut.

Very Knute.

Super cute Knute.

Not so cute Knute anymore.
So - now Kute is one year old and no longer so small and harmless. The media is hardly interested in him anymore and so are the kids.
Modern Media Cuteness doesn’t like the natural way: polar bears get bigger and more dangerous. So all the Knute merchandise will show him as a baby forever, even when he is an old fart and maybe has eaten his care taker …

No matter who much cuteness, pink and kitsch you stuff into your life - it will end. The question is: How much real substance do you want? How much effort are you willing to invest into you own life? And how much pain are you willing to endure to reach your full potential?
Sounds to harsh? Well then choose the way of modern consumerism and try to get the easy & fluffy ticket until death.
The easy way out will always be there.

I love Mario - he is the gaming buddy at least two generations have played with. Will he one day become a fairy tale creature like Hänsel & Gretel - or simply a cultural icons like Mr Spock or Darth Vader?
Here some video and screen shots of the newest incarnation of the Super Mario Series.

If you live outside the UK you might not have heard of the Clangers. I love these little buggers. They are so very different from today’s often brutal computer animated action heroes and monsters for kids.

I hope that all responsible parents bought their kids a virtual pet instead of a real one. First of all it’s much cheaper and easer to care for. If your brat succeeds in not killing the cyberpet until next xmas - then he or she is maybe ready for a real one.

In recent years we have seen a huge flood of computer animated specials - and Penguins - in the movie theatres.
Cuteness doesn’t work for me - at least not to watch a whole movie. But this one is weird, cool and many times very surreal. I mean surfing Penguins are strange enough - but a surfing chicken?
It’s make fun of itself (it’s made like a documentary) and all the other Penguin, Surf and Animal flicks out there. How very refreshing and actually funny.
Excellent choice for a rainy day, Duuuuude!

This game almost made me buy a playstation2. It’s so cool - and the soundtrack for the game is pretty cool as well. Why don’t you build your own prince out of paper from here (very cool!)? Why isn’t there a decent PS2 emulator for the PC yet?!?! Damn!

The thing about genetics that scares me most is that we could create creatures only serve our weird social and emotional needs. It’s already bad enough that we slaughter, abuse and eat most of them anyway. Cats and dogs should be enough for emotionally deprived humans.

I am a great fan of Nick Parker’s work and all the Wallace & Gromit shorts - their last movie is simply brilliant: charming, wonderful humor, hardly any violence, hardly any sex at all (it’s a British movie - remember) and lovely characters. In essence really entertainment for the whole family.
And I have two new favorite characters: Phillip the bad guys dog and you rabbits. Couldn’t find any good pictures - sorry. So if you are looking for a great comedy watch the movie or rent the DVD. Highly recommended.

The intranets provide a cute safety net if you feel stressed out, unloved or empty. Just click for something cute - and your day brightens up. So the net becomes an emotional one-click-pony: Click-Cute-and-Relax!
We humans have the great ability to empathize: we can feel what we see. We feel the cuddly moments and gentleness of such sweet snaps. We become the picture we watch - we become the little fluffy being being cared for. For an instant we are without weight, memory and pain.
The emotional rush is better than chocolate, caffeine and Prozac. Escape the harshness of your life with a cute instant gratification.
A have a new favorite animal: the wombat. I always thought these are cute LITTLE marsupials. But they are actually pretty big and even more adorable. According to the great website ‘The Wombat’s Burrow‘ they are absolutely unsuitable as pets. Make sure to watch some of the videos on the case study page (loacted at the end of the page). Thank evolution for Australia and it’s many great beasts!

My perfect nightmare of tech and Kitsch in one overpriced package. Although I must admit I would love to turn up in a serious business meeting with that machine.

Sometimes I wonder if the internet is just encouraging all the bad side of humanity? The obsession with cuteness and the hunger for trivial entertainment is perfectly served by cute ice bears, sneezing panda babies and other wild life we usually give a crap about.
Fuck cuteness - give me dead people or something that is worth caring for …
