Damn you Guy Ritchie for ruining Sherlock Holmes for the next Generation

tv_sherlock_downey

Sherlock Holmes is one of my personal heroes: he uses his brain to beat the villains. He has always been the archetype of the smart, civilized and nevertheless determined hero.

Guy Ritchie is addicted to violence in his movies – everything needs to have a "bang" to make any sense … for him. And of course he has to turn this old fashioned Gentlemen into a boxing and shooting womanizer …

tv_sherlock_brett

Jeremy Brett – a great and endearing actor!

Did he actually read ANY Sherlock Holmes novels? Did he never watch the great Granada TV series The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes with the great Jeremy Brett?

Too bad many young people will confuse the brawling Robert Downey version of Sherlock as a bit smarter than usual hero – instead of the real thing.

tv_sherlock_rathbone

Another great Sherlock: Basil Rathbone.

By the way: Mr Downey do you really need to play any idiotic hero role thrown your way?

Guy Ritchie I hereby sentence you to another marriage to Madonna!

PS: The currently best running adaptation of the character and attitude of Sherlock Holmes is done by Hugh Laurie as Dr. House – and his friend Dr. Wilson is obviously Dr. Watson.

Riding on my Segway into the Woods

modern_segway_walking_in_the_woods

Humanity has always been lazy, but Segway makes many people extraordinarily lazy.

A nice walk to enjoy nature actually should include some damn "walking" or at least put some effort into riding a bike …

Damn City Slickers!

The Oktoberfest-Myth

Any event can be turned into success with the right amount of beer and boobs. Thanks to greed the so called "Gemütlichkeit" has been turned into a costume party with too much beer.

Always wanted to know how big your (Twitter) e-Penis is?

blogosphere_epenis

Click image for the full size of my Twitter penis.

Finally a web tool that will help some people to really measure if their public efforts have penetrated the blogosphere.

I think this site is brilliant: http://www.epenis.nl/

PS: I especially love the function of measuring other people’s penis and immediately twittering the result.

PPS: How to make friends and influence their penis length.

American Voters close-up: Sarah Palin is pure!

This is painful to watch. All I can say that these people are deluded and uninformed.

They only see what they want to see. And what do they want to see: the American Dream in action.

And what is the American Dream? We are #1! We are the chosen people (by the Lord)! And everybody can make it to the top (even idiots)!

Especially the last point of the American Delusion is the most important one. Modern American equality means that everybody is equally “low” – there is no more room for variety and differences. Brilliant people are immediately disliked and not “one of us”. The American voter insists on these “small town values” and a tight mental consensus. That is why they wanted a President they can have a beer with. And that is why they go for grandpa and the hockey mom, because they seem friendly, cuddly and very close to their own human potential.

People like Obama, John Kerry or Howard Dean seem too different, to challenging and alien to them.

Those old progressive Americans – the so called Founding Fathers – would scare these modern “real Americans” to death. The Founding Fathers where not “real” Christians, damn liberals and had tons of new ideas that were far ahead of their times mental and social consensus.

How to Shower: Women vs. Men – global video stupidity reaches a new low

Is this supposed to be funny? Or a documentary? Or simply a reflection of a trivial everyday thing by even more trivial multimedia artists?

These "people" have their own channel on YouTube and many other places. Even more terrifying is, that so many seem to watch and LIKE this kinda stuff.

I wish channels like ForaTV or RealNews would get as much attention! But reality always seems to loose against triviality in our day and age.

Boris Johnson the new Major of London – please say it ain’t so

wa_boris_johnson

I always have loved London – what a great city. When London reelected “Red Ken” as it’s Major I was thrilled. But after eight years Londoners wanted to kick Gordon Brown for his miserable job and kicked out good old Ken and elected the weird ‘Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson’ instead. Oh, the tragedy …

Boris has been more on television in game shows in actually running any tiny local anything so far. Even George W. Bush had more experience running ’something’ than Boris. His political view are terrible – when he presented the TV documentary The Dream of Rome his remarks and historical conclusion were way of the scale.

He is an old school populist born in the wrong century. He would have loved living during the 17th or 18th century – the heydays of the British Empire. But – dear Boris – these days are long gone …

BBC: A Tribute to Rumsfeld

Donald Rumsfeld and his former Boss George W. Bush are the worst public speakers ever. The must me either related or suffer from the same disease. The BBC has some of the greatest moments from Rumsfeld’s war press conferences in one painful and agonizing clip. Enjoy!

Professional Christianity in the USA -the great Business milking the Sheep

It is amazing that making money from willing believers is still so easy in the 21st century. Religion and fraud always made a great combination – doesn’t matter if it was done by the Holy Mother Church, some Indian pseudo guru or modern day tele-evangelist. The religion itself doesn’t matter – the attitude and willingness to milk your fellow believers does.

More disturbing than anything is that so called true believers are so easily cheated out of their money. Just tell them something they want to hear and swear that God sent you – and they open their wallets. The desire of some people to want to believe can be used and abused for almost anything – spending money on jets, hookers or drugs is the least of this chain of problems. I don’t mind people wasting money for such things – instead of bullets and bombs to kill infidels or exerts political influence.

Rob Hubbard was correct: “If you want to make a little money, write a book. If you want to make a lot of money, create a religion.”

Star Trek – another dumb prequel Movie coming

tv_enterprise_ship

tv_enterprise-crew

The last Star Trek show ‘Enterprise’ was pretty much a fiasco. It had bad scripts, bad actors, bad everything. Now a new movie is in the making and I already hate it. It’s about young Kirk, young Spock and young McCoy

Instead of trying to come up with really good ideas, Hollywood just circles the drain and recycles the same idea over and over again.

Gene Roddenberry was a brave men and tried to break old taboos and limits with his wacky little show. He succeeded and that is why the show was so beloved. But today it’s only about the franchise and milking some more dollars out of plastic figures and re-released DVDs.

Why are they afraid to go where no one has gone before?

Welcome to Heaven!

spiritual_christian_judgement_day

I find it very disturbing how simple and often primitive people imagine heaven and hell. I think any eternal being would know something better …

The lack of imagination of eternal bliss sounds more like hell to me.

Rock of Love Season 2

tv_rock_of_love_2_announcement

Aging Rockstar rides a second round into young pussy land – to find once again the love of his life.

Isn’t it nice that some old rich rock farts get alls the pussy for nothing? Where is the proper Dire Straits song when you need it?

I am – also once again – amazed that such low flying social porn sells so well. But it’s also cheaply produced: some no-longer-important-person looking for a PR gig – and loads of young and fertile persons looking for some gold and fame to dig.

Maybe it’s just our regular DNA programming of spreading ourselves disguised as a very bad TV show?

I love I love New York

tv_I_love_newyork

I am constantly amazed what kind of ‘reality’ soaps get made for the telebrain. VH1 is one of the biggest producer of amazing crap. Social porn in form of dating and humping shows are their genre. And they fiercely milk every dollar out of every micro celebrity they have created themselves. Excellent business concept!

The lovely lady above is such an example: she used to be a candidate for a dating show (big rap star looking for the perfect bitch), then she got her own mating series (I love New York – watch all episodes online if you dare)- and now ‘we’ are facing round two of this personality disaster.

Most amazing is that hundreds if not thousand of guys tried in auditions all over the US and via the intranets to get on the show as the perfect lover. I guess reality shows really create our reality more and more.

The Pain Myth

myth_pain

No pain, no gain? Rubbish. Pain is simply painful – a function of the body to make you notice injury and danger. There is nothing educational about pain, because then we would encourage torture in schools … wait … somehow we actually do that. Anyway. The western pain fetishism can only be related to Christian symbolism and medieval flagellantism.

Tron 2.0 in the making?

tv_tron_poster

According to Wikipedia and some other sources a Tron 2.0 movie is in the making. Since I am from the original generation Tron I find this rather disturbing! Hands of my childhood dreams. Hollywood has already made too many terrible sequels already.

I just recently watched Tron and it’s pretty boring and lame (storywise) – but the visuals were totally breathtaking back then. Today any cell phone has better 3d graphics, but 1982 it was a very different story …
