Pamplona 2009 it’s so much fun to be cruel to animals

I don’t mind bulls killing stupid humans on the road of Pamplona every year to celebrate some old festival.

But killing the bulls later in the arena in a slow and painful process is simply sadism. When we slaughter animals (for food) it should be quick and painless.

The Spaniards should find better ways to prove the manhood of their matadors (the American Rodeo is pretty exciting as well, but doesn’t end in senseless slaughter).

See the full horror of the festival here.

Does this dress make me look … uh … too glamorous?

I think most white people don’t know how to throw a real party or celebrate carnival. Latinos certainly do.

Modern dress code in the office and street wear has become totally neutral – almost "tasteless" without any expression and joy.

EU officially fucked by the recession

wa_eu_recession

BBC News:  Eurozone officially in recession

Thank you so much – I have hardly recovered from the dotcom bubble burst! Why can’t there be a new kinda gold rush or green revolution that brings in a lot of money.

Thank you very much America and your unregulated financial institutions!

But Europe really has had a bad economy for some time – and not much growth anyway. So even the slightest wobbles make the EU nation quake in their economic boots.

Britain and Spain have been hit hard by the housing crises. But only British banks crumbled like mad, Spain had much better regulation and oversight. The Spanish bank Santander is currently picking up former competitors all over Europe.

But I am still not sure what to do with these terrorists in Iceland! They still insist they are normal people just like and me.

Euro2008: Spain beats Germany – one Nation healed, one Nation devastated

Bastian Schweinsteiger – called "Schweini" by his friends (which actually roughly translates into "Piggy") – is devasted …

Congratulations Spain – you really are Europe’s Football Champion. That title is well deserved – although I still think that the Dutch are an equally  breath taking team.

Germany – once again – didn’t make it to the top. They didn’t play very good and it’s more or less by chance they ended up in the finals.

And I glad it’s over. After a month of madness, endless street parties and over excited fellow countryman I am glad some form of silence and normality is back.

Actually it’s a stupid affair anyway: watching these youngster millionaires sweating it out on the field to make even more money. Almost all of these players are the cream of the top of their national leagues and earn shitloads of money.

So each Euro Championship is mostly about overpaid sport stars duking it out and RAISING their net worth in pro football.

I am actually happy that the Spaniards won the tournament, since it has already helped to heal some of the rift in a still divided country. Spain’s many proud regions usually despise each other and didn’t stand behind their national team in unity. This year was different. So sport and symbolism can have a huge transforming impact – even in so called "modern societies".

I have only one thing to say about this building: fucking amazing!

I rest my case! ;-)

Seriously: this great piece of art and many buildings of Maestro Gehry are my main argument against boring modern architecture. Buildings don’t have to be straight and boring – the ‘box’ model should be a thing of the past. We can design and build better houses today: more interesting on the outside and environmentally friendly on the inside.

More? Wikipedia entry, Official Website and don’t miss to explore all these great shot on Flickr.
