Delia Derbyshire

tv_Delia_derbyshire_RW

Delia Derbyshire was a rare creature: she studied math and music - and worked later in the famous BBC Radiophonic Workshop. There she created for example many sound effects for tv shows and the theme for Doctor Who. Delia had a passion for weird sounds and harmonies. I wish she would have worked during the early house and techno scene - I am sure she would have created amazing music!

The End of an American Idol - or what would Bettie Page do today?

blogo_bettie-page-mugshot

Bettie Page is certainly one of the most iconic figure of the last century. Today she hides far away from the glamour life.

But Bettie has many followers and imitators. But in contract to Bettie they only repeat what she has done. They can’t break any taboos anymore, because they have all already been broken.

I wonder if Bettie would be a young girl today she might be the Queen of YouTube and MySpace. Even more annoying and alluring then Paris Hilton, LonelyGirl15 and Pamela Anderson together …

Space Girls, I am still waiting for you …

sleaze_ufo_chick

… they haven’t build women like these yet …

sleaze_ufo_chick_2

… on the other side - I am already frustrated by women. Why wait another 150 years for even more male depressions?! ;-)

No time jump possible Captain!

STAR TREK

Two down. Sad but true. But they will live on - on DVD, computer games, chewing gums, t-shirts, action figures … what a great way to be remembered!

Louis de Funès

One of my childhood heroes. Just loved his funny movies. I am not sure if many people outside France really know him - but here in Germany his movies were very popular. Especially loved his Gendarme / Inspector of St. Tropez and Fantomas series.

So very different from Peter Sellers version of a french policemen.

Some videos to watch: Herr Müller, Fantomas trailer and a typical case of Louis madness.

Black Adder

tv_black_adder_goes_fourth

At least once a year I have to watch some old Black Adder episodes - just to remind myself that there are some good comedy writers out there. Apart from the dreadful first series I can recommend to you all the other three seasons of this great show … if you like British comedy …

Five Minutes To Midnight

I recently found this rather disturbing news reel about the still lingering possibilities of a nuclear war. It shows that almost all the atomic nations have learned nothing.

Cornholio

I am a huge Beavis and Butt-head fan (I know - it’s so 1990’s) - too bad Viacom removed almost all my beloved clips from YouTube. This one is also still there.

Henry Mancini - Peter Gunn Theme

music_peter_gunn_motel

Henry Mancini is for me one of the most underappreciated composers of the last century. His themes like the ‘Pink Panther’ or songs like ‘Moon River’ are true classics. But such masters of film music are hardly remembered and honored.

So enjoy another of his classic.

What’s it about Steve? Beat the Audience? Beat the perv? What Jerry Springer couldn’t show you?

Can it get anymore less important? Like the hairdresser of Paris Hiltons dog walker gets his own action movie?

BBC - The Tribal Eye

science_tribal_eye

Sir David Attenborough is one of the greatest film makers ever. His documentaries are stunning, insightful and brilliant. In the year 1976 he produced "The Tribal Eye". A great series about native art and culture all over the world.

Thanks to the wonders of the intranets it can be found on Torrents via Mininova.org. When you like it BUY it - via Amazon for example.

One more thing: Attenborough has this incredibly soothing voice. He could read anything to me and I would find it reassuring. Is it just me?!

House MD

I am a huge fan of House - he is one of the best character studies and comedies on telly. It’s a masterpiece of script writing and excellent dialogues. The whole medical enviroment is just for scenery and providing life threatening situations for our heros / doctors. But most of all: I love that all characters develop rapidly - and don’t stay static like in so many other shows. I want more of that! It’s good that american TV has developed a hunger for nasty and older characters - instead of all these young, fertile and naive youngsters (e.g. Friends).

Boston Legal

Denny Crane is the next best thing to sex on the tubes. I just love William Shatner and James Spader - one of the few great ‘odd male couple’ on tv. I was never a big fan of David E. Kelley other series, but this one is a stroke of genius -although sometimes he goes overboard with weird characters. Nevermind.

Boston Legal is also a welcomed change to all these cool and young heroes in almost any other show. Candice Bergen shows that intelligence, wisdom and charm are the essence of an adorable woman - no matter how old she is.

My source for even more Boston legal pr0n: boston-legal.org. Highly recommended since they have images and trailers long before the stuff hits the torrent.
